Ultimate Wallet?! 7/31/24

Hoooolllllaaaaa, and welcome back tooooo…. Elder Milne’s Weekly Emails!!

Ba ba baaaaa.

This week was awesome and I am pretty much used to the MTC life. My district is flipping awesome and I definitely lucked out! My Spanish is definitely improving, and I love feeling the spirit so much every day!

Here's some highlights:

Last week we got to go to the temple and do baptisms and confirmations AND initiatories! It was so cool, even though I didn't understand much of it. The Mexico City temple was awesome and the visitor center was like a castle inside.

We don't have much free time as missionaries, but when we do we gotta get a little creative. In between our 2nd class and dinner we have like 30 min so we came up with “Ultimate Wallet”. It's literally just ultimate Frisbee with a little wallet in an extremely small space and you can't run. We also have to be quiet to not disturb other classes. Boy do we look stupid and get some weird looks but its hilarious and a good break from the usual grind.😄

We had a solo Español day (“English fast) and it was one rollercoaster of a day. Having to reach into the small Spanish vocabulary cache in my brain every single time I spoke took everything out of me. In our first class we were fighting demons to stay awake. We all got some caffeine in us and the rest of the day we were either laughing uncontrollably or on the verge of red stress level. It was one weird 16 hours let me tell you.

Here's a thought I had and it's a bit long but bear with me:
     I think its crazy how fast humans adapt to their surroundings. My district talked about how quickly the CCM and missionary life has become normal and routine. A couple elders and I talked about how garments are completely normal now. We talked about how normal it is to have so many temples in close reach in Utah. But it's important to remember that usual or normal things are not unimportant! The CCM is an amazing, dedicated ground for missionaries to learn and come closer to Christ. The garment is a sacred symbol of taking on Christ's name and helps us remember our covenants. Temples are the house of the Lord, where sacred work is done and important covenants are made. Whether you are a missionary, parent, student, or anything else, remember to find gratitude in all the opportunities God gives you. You are here for more than school! You are here for more than work! You are here for more than pleasure and comfort! You are here to find your way back to your loving Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ, and help others do so! Brothers and sisters, family and friends, YOU MATTER. Trust in Christ and you will find purpose no matter where you are in life.

 Ether 3:14 - “Behold, I am he who was prepared from the foundation of the world to redeem my people. Behold, I am Jesus Christ. I am the Father and the Son. In me shall all mankind have life, and that eternally, even they who shall believe on my name; and they shall become my sons and my daughters.”

Sloppy Joe's and Baptism 10/1/24

Hola amigos what's good in the hood of wherever you find yourself? I'm still in Argentina and it's getting lit up in here. Literally. It's starting to get hotter and my fear of the 125 degree summer is ever present. But it's also getting 'lit' like slang wise. We had a baptism this week! Her name is Florencia, and she is 15. We worked with her almost every day this week to help her pass the interview and she did! It was super exciting and awesome to see her follow the Savior and be baptized. A member named Americo (he's super dope) baptized her. Here's a picture that we forgot to be in!! (I promise they were happy) Elder Cook also cooked Sloppy Joe's for after the baptism, and they were super good but it was hilarious because the members absolutely fien over them and it's hilarious to hear them try to say it! First Email! 7/24/24

Hola everybody! My first 2 and a half weeks as a missionary have been awesome! Being a missionary is something so different from what I am used to, but its special and I love it!  Home MTC was más o menos to say the least. It was good but it definitely made me excited to be here in the CCM (Mexico MTC) :) Being in person is so much better, I'm actually not sure how I made it through Covid. The CCM is great! I love it here, my teachers are hilarious, and my district is awesome! And the food is way better than people make it out to be. Every once in a while you'll get something like mushy corn dogs that just make me feel weird inside but I figured out the cilantro lime ranch can pretty much carry any meal, especially with some tajin lime watermelon on the side! My Spanish is coming along (or at least I thought it was). Yesterday we had to pull an audible and teach 3 15 year old teenagers from Mexico. In Spanish. Without a plan or lesson. For 15 minutes. Feliz Navidad 12/26/24

Hello everyone! Holy cow it's Christmas look at that This Christmas was epic to say the least. I stayed the night with some totally rad Elders last night, got to call my family in the morning, hung out with my zone, played some card games, ate an asado, watched the Chosen and the Best 2 Years (with permission).  This past week has been crazy, I got transfered to Valle de Uco, and it's sooo pretty. The Andes Mountains are my favorite. My area is the smallest in the mission and everyone is from Bolivia. Also there are more dogs than people. So we're having tons of fun, my new comp Elder Contreras is from Chile and he's hilarious, we are laughing half the time and having tons of fun working hard. Spending Christmas as a missionary is the weirdest feeling but something so satisfying it's hard to explain. I know I'm making a sacrifice and it's sad to be away from family and friends (all of you ), but that sadness is filled with an immeasurable amount of joy in my...
